About Kilgoris
Kilgoris Constituency is an electoral constituency in Narok County, Kenya. It is one of the six constituencies in the county and was formerly the only constituency in Trans Mara District. Kilgoris town is located approximately 60 kilometers west of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, which is world-famous for its annual wildebeest migration. The town’s economy is largely based on agriculture and trade, with some contribution from tourism due to its proximity to the Maasai Mara. Farming, particularly the cultivation of maize and beans, plays a major role in the livelihoods of many residents.
As part of the larger Maasai region, Kilgoris is home to the Maasai people, who are known for their rich culture and traditions. These include the traditional jumping dance (Adumu), vibrant attire, and a pastoralist way of life.
